If you want to make the most of the great British Summer, before the sun returns to its hidey hole for the rest of the year, then a stay in a Lake District Hotel might be the ideal last-minute trip for you and the family!

There are so many fun things to do, events and outdoor pursuits in the Lake District, it’s no wonder tourists flock to stay in a Lake District hotel in their Summer holidays!

But If you think it’s too late to book a Lake District hotel, then you’re in for a surprise! The Lake District is one of the best locations for last minute stays, with tons of last-minute availability and even discounts available in the summer months.

Many Ways To Get Away

Here are some tips and trick for booking a last-minute Summer stay, in a Lake District hotel

    1. Look out for discounts

Lots of Hotels in the Lake District offer discounts, especially toward the end of the Summer. Dale Head Hall is currently running a fantastic discount on stays in September!

    2. Book direct

Lots of people book their Lake District hotel stays with third party booking sites these days, but we’re going to let you in on a little secret: Most (almost all, in fact) Lake District hotels will offer the same rate as external booking sites, but they don’t list all of their rooms on those sites. Call direct, tell the hotel about the deal you’ve seen online, and ask if they will honour it… Spoiler alert- they definitely will!

This way, you can talk to a real person about the rooms available and get the best room for your needs! You’re also saving the hotel money this way, so you might find the likelihood of getting an awesome room upgrade, or added extras increases!

    4. Don't hesitate

So you’ve found the perfect hotel stay in the Lakes (Here’s hoping it’s at Dale Head Hall!), and you’re getting excited, planning all the things you can do while you’re here. But, you spend a little too much time deliberating, and ‘bang!’ it’s been booked by someone else.

This happens an awful lot at hotels in the Lake District with last-minute dates still available, especially in the busy Summer months. Of course, you’ll want to check with the other half and work before you book – but don’t wait around too long, the perfect Lake District stay could slip through your fingers if you’re not speedy!

    5. Pack for all eventualities

If you’ve been to the Lake District before, you’ll know the score. But if you’re new to the area, it is good advice to pack for all types of weather, even if it’s set to be a balmy weekend. The Lake District is beautiful and full of fabulous days out, despite the weather. But it can change quickly and unexpectedly. So, bring that jumper; bring that waterproof coat, and most certainly- bring a good book, just in case you come across a nice fire or a traditional Lake District hotel lounge to sit in of an evening.
