Lake District hotels, Grasmere/Keswick in the Autumn?

try Thirlmere.. ...just amazing,

Autumn is when we take a short break in between our summer holidays and the frenetic pace of preparations for Christmas. Before the madness of the festive season starts there is just time for a short break and to calm the mind. The cool breeze sways the trees and they reluctantly part with the golden leaves which they have held onto so tightly throughout the summer. The colours change by the day bringing a truly spectacular new dimension to the landscape and a real change to the Lake District scenary. This is nowhere more clearly visible than at Dale Head Hall. The once lush woodlands turn orange, then golden then brown. The sun setting low in the sky casts ever increasingly longer shadows from the mature trees lining the long driveway leading up to the hotel.

The weather at this time of year can be unpredictable but with that comes opportunity and exitement. The warm remains of the summer can be enjoyed at it's best, not too hot for those that wish to be particulary active, but also warm enough to enjoy the great scenary from the comfort of a chanced upon resting spot. When the rain comes, this is the time to search out the fast flowing streams, the swelling rivers and, best of all, the thundrous waterfalls, gushing with such tremendous force and renewed vigour following their summer peacefulness.

..and after a long day of walking in the hills, touring in the car or visiting a local museum, what better place to sit in the comfort of the lounge, looking out over the lake, perhaps with a welcome hot drink, but of course, Dale Head Hall.
